Bio

Nhung Nguyen is an Assistant Professor of Multimedia Journalism at the University of South Alabama (USA). She teaches courses across journalism, international media, and data storytelling. She holds a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Kansas, an MA in Responsible Management and Economic Development from the University for Peace (Costa Rica), an MA in Journalism from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam), and a BA in Broadcasting from the Academy of Journalism and Communication (Vietnam).

Dr. Nguyen’s research bridges global journalism studies, public communication, and digital media. Her work examines how media systems, news framing, and digital platforms shape civic discourse in contexts ranging from climate change and environmental policy to health advocacy and political communication. She is particularly interested in comparative and cross-cultural perspectives, public engagement in authoritarian and democratic settings, and how misinformation and fact-checking practices influence public trust and policy outcomes.
