Private Swim Lesson
We offer private swim lessons for ages 3+. Lessons are taught by American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors.
Cost
Our 2024 private lesson rates are listed below. Each lesson is 30 minutes. Private lessons are only available to members of the USA Student Recreation Center.

Refund and Cancellation Policy
Participant may withdraw from private swim lessons at any time; however, all services are non-refundable.
Participant agrees to expiration date of sessions as indicated in their Campus Recreation Portal account. Failure to use all sessions before expiration will result in the forfeiture of the remaining sessions.
Cancellations/Rescheduling: Participants must request any cancellation/rescheduling at least six (6) hours before a scheduled appointment. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your session and participant will be charged. Participant should contact the swim instructor directly to cancel/reschedule a session.Lessons that are canceled due to weather will be rescheduled, but must be used before the expiration date.
Late policy: Swim instructors are obligated to wait only 10 minutes for no-show participants. After 10 minutes, participant will be charged as a cancellation. Sessions that start late will end on time. If participant will be late, please have the courtesy to contact the instructor. Buddy sessions with only one participant arriving will still charge both participants and the lesson will continue.
Registration
- Fill out the Private Lesson Form. Choose the package that you would like and indicate the times you are available for lessons.
- Pay online via our Campus Recreation Portal. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. You will be contacted by a swim instructor when both the Private Lesson Form and payment have been received.
- Use your lessons! Lessons will expire. There are no refunds for unused services.
If you have trouble using our portal, we will be happy to meet you at the front desk of the Student Recreation Center to help you register and pay. Please email aquatics@southalabama.edu to set up an appointment. Per university policy, we are unable to take credit card payments over the phone.
Waiver
All swim lesson participants must digitally sign this waiver. The waiver is good for one year and must be on file before the start of a swim session. A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for members and guests under age 18.
